BLS (CPR/AED) for Healthcare Providers

BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers is a CPR course designed to teach the skills to recognize and manage emergency situations. Courses teach CPR/AED for victims of all ages, relief from choking, and use of the AED. Classes are taught using simulated clinical scenarios, which include hands-on participation. The importance of effective team communication and appropriate action during resuscitation is emphasized. BLS is the most basic training you will need to prepare for future life support classes as a healthcare professional. BLS courses teach:

  • The Chain of Survival
  • Activating EMS/Calling 911
  • Performing 1 and 2 rescuer CPR with rescue breathing using mouth to mouth and the bag-valve mask
  • Relieving foreign body airway obstruction for the adult, child or infant victim
  • Using an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)

At the end of the course, students complete a written test consisting of 25 multiple choice questions.
